Paulette Meier will lead our plenary session on Friday night. For more information about Paulette, see the homepage.
On Saturday morning and afternoon workshops will be offered (but are not obligatory), some of them centered specifically on our Quaker wisdom theme and others designed to refresh, heal, teach skills or expand understanding.
In keeping with our theme, Marcelle Martin will be offering workshops both Saturday morning and afternoon. Marcelle is the author of Our Life is Love: The Quaker Spiritual Journey, published this year by Inner Light Books (San Francisco, CA). She is also the author of the Pendle Hill pamphlets Invitation to a Deeper Communion and Holding One Another in the Light. She has led workshops at retreat centers and Quaker meetings across the U.S. She served for four years as the resident Quaker Studies teacher at the Pendle Hill retreat center in Wallingford, PA. In 2013 she was the Mullen Writing Fellow at the Earlham School of Religion while working on Our Life is Love.
Carole Spencer writes in the introduction to the book:
Marcelle understands and interprets early Quaker experience in fresh and profound ways because she has lived their journey in her inimitable way … . She enters into their story with empathy, thus parting the veil for the modern reader to cross the threshold into the profound realm of those early Quakers who lived a life of holiness and perfection… . She also displays a gift for telling the inspiring stories of modern Friends, who continue to flesh out that roadmap.
